Graceland (Memphis),
Dollywood,
Nashville
and possibly Gatlenburg. Now, I know quite a few of you are from the south and so I really need some suggestions on places we have to stop by and eat. Or maybe you can suggest some southern food we need to try no matter where we are in the south.Here is our driving agenda and so suggestions along the way would be great.
I-81 Pennsylvania
I-81 Maryland
I-81 West Virginia
I-81 Virginia
(Believe it or not, we are so far south in Pennsylvania that we can go through four states in about 45 minutes to an hour!!! We are only 10 minutes from the Mason Dixon line and so we are almost southerners. :)
I-40 Tennessee
I think on the way back we are going to try and hit Kentucky because we have never been there either.
Okay y'all (gettin' that down now) give us some places to chow down. :) I can't wait to hear what you suggest! Credit will be given along the way too!!!
Hi Nina. That sounds like a blast. I wish I had some suggestions, but I have not been to those places. I've been farther north on the east coast, more your direction, but I've not been to the places you will travel to. Darn!

ReplyDeleteAnyway, find the most run down bbq place you can, and eat there. Those are always the best. Also, have some chicken fried steak with white gravy, and some green beans with bacon grease. :) I will try to be thinking of some other stuff as well. Have fun!
I don't know any food places in those states! I just suggest boiled peanuts and vinegar based bbq!
ReplyDeleteNina~ I'm pretty much at a loss! I've driven through some of these places, but I've never visited... I suggest googling Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives for a few of the cities to see if anything neat pops up...Can't wait to hear what you discover along the way! Having bbq jealousy already!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure about places to eat...usually look in issues of "Southern Living" for quaint places to eat along the way.
ReplyDeleteI have been to Memphis to Graceland and it is a HOOT!! Especially if you don't take Elvis too seriously!(There are those who literally worship him) We went there once(by accident) on his birthday and it was so neat: huge basket of flowers, people dressed like him, thousands of people......it was something!
My hubby just got home last night from Pigeon Forge, Tenn but he was there for a meeting, not for sight-seeing!

I am not familiar with the areas that you are going, so I am not much help on places to eat. I have never been to Pigeon Forge, but I hear it is pretty neat. Lots of shopping! Hopefully some of your other blog friends from the area can give you some help on this. Have a wonderful and safe trip. Love & blessings from NC!
